Biography of Rev. Maureen Walter

Maureen Walter (pronouns she/her) graduated from Knox College and was ordained in 1980. She and her husband, Richard Johnston, have adult daughters, Rachel, Maeve, and ‘extra’ daughter Sam, who fill their parents’ lives with love, laughter and pride. In addition to her M.Div., Maureen has a J.D. (law degree) and Bachelor degrees in English and Psychology, After serving her first parish in Ailsa Craig, Ont.  from 1980-85, she moved to Toronto, and among other activities, served on numerous committees of our church. She ministered informally in West Toronto Presbytery at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church from 2008-2012. She was called to St. John’s in 2012, and has enjoyed ministry there ever since. Maureen is a “child of the manse”. She is the daughter of the Rev. Peter Walter and the Rev. JoAnne Walter. Her brother Scott Walter does significant work in international literacy development, and with his family, Olga, Peter and Sophia, is very close to Maureen and her family.
